tomorrow....

Tomorrow is the first day of our new diet. Let me tell you, I have no self-control, hence the new blog. I need accountabillity. I know if I post this first blog, and if anyone actually reads it, I will have to keep it up. I went out and bought a whole ton of groceries for the south beach diet. Tomorrow I start my low fat, low carb lifestyle. Lots and lots and lots of chicken breast. If anyone has any tips, I would love them! These first two weeks are going to be hard, I love sugar and carbs...love them! The first two weeks are supposed to break the sugar addiction, also, it can't be bad for the type II diabetes beating me up. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!
I just read a devotion and it really spoke to me, it encouraged me to start over and to not go it alone,

Whether it is extra weight on our thighs or excess baggage in our souls, we women all face heated, hard battles. Our key verse today teaches us to decide not to wage war all alone. Enlist another strand or two to strengthen one another in the fight to overcome strongholds and worship God alone. Satan shudders when God's gals band together, with Jesus at the forefront, to courageously face the battle before us.
"A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)

So here we go, it's going to be a tough road, but with Jesus and the support of my friends, I can do this!!!

  1. i honestly read every word of that and felt it deep in my heart. all i have to say is i truly know how hard it is to change.. im so proud of you. i am in the same boat.. a wedding day a month away and a desire to just be a healthy bride. have you ever tried metformin? i have insulin resistance and i use it.. but its for people with type 2. it really helped curb my carb cravings. but going gluten free has been the only thing to really change me. im here for you in prayer.. and if you ever want to talk please call me (805)215-0715. you can so do this.. and if you mess up, remember its one day.. keep going. xox nicole

  2. Yay Sarah! I just started a low carb low sugar diet a month or so ago. The first two weeks were a roller coaster of feeling good and total withdrawals for the things I was missing - cheese! bread! candy!
But once I got through those two weeks, it got a lot easier. On plus that I discovered is that its not as expensive to eat healthy as I expected. When you cut out the snack and breads and processed foods, you can fill your shopping cart pretty dang full with produce and meat and still be surprised how low your bill is.
A current fave at our house is ground lamb. Its really the ONLY way I like lamb. All the other cuts are too fatty and slimy. But the ground meat cooks up deliciously. And its cheaper to buy it at the health food meat counter than the regular grocery store.
Anyway, I'm proud of you and will be praying for you. You can do this through Christ who strengthens you! Love, Tasha

  3. Sarah, we haven't been able to chat much at the park lately. When I come you go. But I want you to know how amazing it is what you are doing. It is no easy task to lose weight and then to put yourself out there and ask for support. I am so proud of you and if there is anything I can do to help you let me know. Maybe go walking some time. Keep it up, even when is hard. I know you will succeed!
